Who Will Be Your Next Employee?

The construction industry is facing a serious workforce development issue. It’s hard to find new employees and many existing employees are older and starting to think about retirement. What can you do to make a difference?

PARTICIPATE IN:

(1) Build My Future

(2) Summer Job Fair at Kickapoo High School.

(1) Build My Future is a one day interactive career day for high school students. Currently, 2,174 high school students have signed up to attend Build My Future on April 17th. While there, high school students will have the opportunity to try out various construction careers and visit with industry professionals. You are running out of time to sign up to participate in this fantastic event this year!

The fee to participate in Build My Future is $100.  That’s it – one hundred dollars to get your company in front of more than 2,000 high school students that are making important decisions about what their future will look like. This is your opportunity to be part of the solution and share how great the opportunities are in the construction industry.

In order for Build My Future to be effective for you, you must have an interactive booth. It can be as simple or complex as you would like, but it has to be engaging. HBA builders are taking the Belt Sander Racetrack to Build My Future. I know – builders don’t stand around racing belt sanders all day – but I bet it will catch the attention of the students and cause them to come check it out and visit with the builders. Who knows where those conversations will lead.

It’s more important than ever that we all be part of the solution to workforce development issues instead of griping about the problem.
