KY3: Drought Conditions Could Affect New Home Construction

KY3‘s Jay Scherder reported Tuesday (8/28) on the increasing threat drought conditions potentially pose to economic development in the region. As water supply drops nearer 60%, 55%, or 50% of capacity, increasingly severe restrictions automatically kick in for customers of City Utilities of Springfield. At the most severe restriction level, no new water customers would be allowed to be added to the system. That would effectively shut down the home building business, putting thousands out of work in the Ozarks.

HBA CEO Matt Morrow and home builder Brett Godfrey were interviewed for the story.
