Thank you to all HBA Members who attended the 2018 HBA Christmas party at Ozarks Food Harvest (PHOTOS BELOW). And a special THANK YOU to Santa Claus – who stopped by to spread cheer and laughter! Do you know who Santa was and what HBA Member Company he is with? This will be revealed in on our Facebook page. Hint: They are all COLORful at his company and they PRESS on and get the job done.
A wonderful time was had by all, and the amount of excitement and hard work that was put into our volunteer project was bountiful!
Giving something back to the community was our focus this year – and we managed to do that by assembling 280 senior boxes, 420 backpacks and sorting 23,034 pounds of pineapple. All of this work resulted in 26,953 meals for our community! Just another way HBA members affect the community they live in – great job!
As part of the Christmas Party the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield installed the 2019 HBA Board of Directors and announced its most prestigious honors of the year. The annual HBA awards announced during the evening’s festivities included HBA Member of the Year, HBA Associate Company of the Year, HBA Associate Individual of the Year and three HBA Board awards.
The HBA Builder Member of the Year went to Ryan Green. Ryan, with First Choice Custom Homes, joined the HBA in 2015 and jumped right in! Ryan was appointed to serve on the HBA Board of Directors in 2016 and currently serves as the HBA Secretary. Ryan, and his wife Jen, are extremely involved in the HBA – you will see them at the Home Show, Parade of Homes, HBACF Bowling Event, HBA Builder Roundtables and HBA education events. In addition to attending everything he possibly can, Ryan has focused on keeping up with what is going on in the different municipalities concerning codes and other issues and has been an invaluable resource.
Southern Supply was honored as HBA Associate Company of the Year. Jill and her staff are dedicated to the success of the HBA. Jill dedicates the entire weeks of Home Show and Remodeling EXPO set-up to help in any way she can. Jill tries to attend every HBA event, but when she is unable there is always a Southern Supply employee willing to take her place. Southern Supply sponsored the HBA Home Show this year and employees from Southern Supply participate in virtually every HBA activity.
Jeremy Ray (Guaranty Bank) was honored as the HBA Associate Individual of the Year. Jeremy is dedicated fisherman. Once the fishing tournament entry forms are distributed, the HBA staff knows they will be seeing Jeremy in the next 15-20 minutes with his entry form! In addition to Jeremy’s love of fishing, Jeremy participates in the golf tournament, sporting clays tournament, the HBACF 5K and attends every HBA quarterly membership event. Jeremy is a long-time volunteer at the Home Show and the Remodeling EXPO – look for his smiling face selling admission tickets on the Friday of each show!
The HBA Board Award was given to three individuals this year – Brett Godfrey, Matt Bailey and Jeremy Atchley. Brett, Matt and Jeremy have worked extremely hard with HBA staff and the City of Springfield concerning adopting the 2018 codes. Brett has been through this process multiple times and offers great insight and a common-sense approach. Matt currently serves on the NAHB codes committee and brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Jeremy is well-versed in the energy codes and has modeled several different scenarios to give the HBA hard data to share with the City of Springfield. Together, the HBA is working towards adopting new codes that make the most sense.
