Attention HBA Members – Health & Wellbeing of Members and Staff

To our members:

March 20, 2020

The health and wellbeing of our members and staff are of the utmost priority for the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield (HBA). In these uncertain times, the HBA is exercising all due diligence in our efforts to prevent the potential spreading of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The HBA office continues to be open, but we are requesting that all business be handled over the phone or via email. Committee meetings scheduled for this month have been cancelled. We are working on electronic ways to conduct business in the immediate future.

As you know, our industry is very people-oriented. We rely on the face-to-face interaction to get the job done. It is with this unique quality in mind that the HBA feels a responsibility to equip its members along with the broader network of individuals and companies involved in this industry with the right information to incorporate in their decision-making processes. Given the rapidly evolving nature of these circumstances, the HBA will be monitoring and periodically distributing information from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers For Disease Control (CDC), and other entities like the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services so that we might do our part to safeguard the health of our fellow Springfield area residents.

At the HBA office itself, we are actively encouraging staff who might not be feeling well to remain at home. While none of the HBA staff have experienced any symptoms to date, this quickly changing environment dictates that we have such a policy in place. Additionally, we are encouraging the recommended adoption of best hygiene practices like those found here. We have also communicated with our janitorial services provider in an effort to ensure that we are providing the cleanest environment possible in which to conduct the association’s business.

As a valued part of this organization, your membership also grants you access to the many benefits of membership of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) which has developed a Coronavirus Preparedness page found here.

As we all seek to determine the best course of action for our own households, businesses, employees, and communities, I am hopeful that this period of uncertainty will be short lived. As of today, the HBA is “open for business,” and will continue to be, pending new information that necessitates a change of course.

We cannot control or predict how consumers, financial markets, and governments will react to situations like the one we’re in. What we can do is work to reassure you that the HBA is on the job and always looking out for you.

Your organization will never stop working for you. If I can ever be of any assistance, I hope that you won’t hesitate to let me know by sending me an e-mail at or by calling/texting my cell phone at 417.818.4030.

It is an honor to serve you and I am grateful to represent such outstanding people so devoted to improving the quality of life in the communities we all serve.

All the best,

Charlyce Ruth
