Morrow Receives Executive Officer of the Year Award at Annual National Gala Honoring HBAs

HBA of Greater Springfield also Honored with Record Five Association Excellence Awards at Ceremonies in Providence

SPRINGFIELD – The Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield announced today that Executive Officer Matt Morrow has been recognized as the top Executive Officer in the country by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Executive Officers Council (EOC). The EOC is the professional organization of association executives who manage the more than 800 local and state builder associations affiliated with NAHB.
As a part of the annual NAHB Executive Officers Council Seminar (held this year in Providence, Rhode Island August 4-8), Morrow was announced the recipient of the Gary Komarow Executive Officer of the Year Award at the Association Excellence Awards (AEA) banquet on Thursday, August 7.  The annual award honors one dedicated HBA Executive Officer whose actions, commitments, and accomplishments in a single year have been truly exceptional. In addition, the winner’s year is marked by promoting the goals of the EOC and assisting in the advancement of their peers. This award was renamed in 1998 in memory of Gary Komarow, former Chief Legal Counsel of NAHB, and a very dear friend of the EOC.

Morrow was hired as Executive Officer of the HBA of Greater Springfield in January 2001. In 2003, Morrow received the 2002 David Lloyd New EO of the Year Award. He is now only the second EO to have received both the New EO of the Year and the EO of the Year awards.

“I am so humbled by this” said Morrow, who did not know that Springfield HBA President Kevin Clingan and members of the Greater Springfield HBA staff had nominated him to receive the distinction. “The award is a testament to the vision, commitment and hard work of our members, our board of directors, and our HBA staff. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work for and with them.”
In addition to receiving the top award, the HBA of Greater Springfield was recognized with five other Association Excellence Awards at this year’s event. For the second year in a row the HBA of Greater Springfield received more AEA Awards than any other association in its size category.
