The City of Springfield has reviewed some of the new and/or altered requirements of the 2012 International Residential Code in a preliminary way with the HBA’s I&E committee along with the 2011 National Electrical Code.
City staff hopes to submit the adoptive ordinances to City Council in January of 2012.
As a part of this process each code is required to be adopted by a specific ordinance. Each ordinance includes various specific elements that the City desires to delete, modify or add as new requirements. As a part of this review process the City is asking for YOUR review and specific comments regarding the proposed adoptive ordinances.
The HBA’s I&E (Information & Education) committee will also be meeting directly with City officials to review these code adoption plans and to provide additional input in the near future. Concerns or suggestions you have can also be shared (without attribution) by the committee if you wish to contact HBA staff (jennifer@springfieldhba.com) or I&E Committee Chairman Matt Bailey (matt@howardbaileyco.com). Please provide these comments no later than November 15.
